Marketing, advertising, and leisure—now fatally collapsed into consumption—are today much more than a commercial, a pop-up on a website, or a variety magazine: they are a sophisticated process of creating and spreading torpor. Today, we are no longer simple consumers called upon to declare eternal love for a brand, but followers of practices. Thus, between running, mindfulness, food porn, and vacations to post on social media, we lose our uniqueness and critical awareness. Gianluca Diegoli (Follow Me! Marketing as Cult, Cult as Marketing, UTET) and Paolo Guenzi (The Marketing of Ignorance, Egea) guide us on this journey of mass distraction, seeking to illuminate, at least in part, our dark forest. Moderated by Davide Rossi.
