The McMusa

McMusa is an independent journalism and outreach project curated by Marta Ciccolari Micaldi, an author and literary guide specializing in American Studies and literary criticism.
The name—a tribute to inspiration, pop culture, and road trips—is composed of her initials (MCM) combined with those of the United States (USA). Founded in 2013, it brings American culture and current affairs to Italy through a diverse editorial and digital platform and in-person activities, most notably the Book Riders literary tours.
Its signature is literature: it uses books, stories, and narrative structures (more often, in truth, the parallel and opposing structures of counter-narratives) to uncover and recount the most remote and controversial aspects of the United States.
If history, with its myths, is written by the victors, here we are working to find another.
