An illustrator born and raised in Sicily, she draws much of her inspiration from the colorful land, its extraordinary palettes, and its wonderful people. Martina's love of art was born in her grandfather's workshop, where she and her cousins spent many afternoons creating characters and bringing them to life. She later cultivated this love at the Academy of Fine Arts. Martina draws many influences from the world around her, including the picture books she read as a child, walks in the city, her favorite flea market, or simply chatting with someone. For this reason, she always carries a notebook with her so she can draw when inspiration strikes. All of Martina's illustrations begin as pencil sketches, then are redrawn in Photoshop. She has always loved pencil and watercolor, so she imitates these techniques as much as possible when working digitally.
