Asmae Dachan

Asmae Dachan is an Italian-Syrian journalist, photographer, and writer, and a visiting professor at the University of Macerata. She collaborates with various publications, including Avvenire, L'Espresso, Vita.it, and Valigia Blu. She is the creator of the blog Diario di Siria and the podcast Siria, guerra e gelsomini. Her latest book, Cicatrice su tela (Castelvecchi), won the 2022 Nadia Toffa Prize. In July 2025, she won the Cristiana Matano – Lampedusa d'Amore International Journalism Award for her reportage from Syria, Rinascere nella cauta speranza, published in L'Espresso.
