Francesco Profumo

Francesco Profumo is an Italian academic and politician. He was appointed President of the Reggio Children Foundation - Loris Malaguzzi ETS Center in December 2024. He has served on the boards of Unicredit Private Bank, Il Sole 24 Ore, and Fidia Spa. Since 2011, he has served on the boards of Fidia Spa, Telecom Italia, and Pirelli. He subsequently served as President of the National Research Council and Minister of Education, Universities, and Research under the Monti government. Former President of Iren SpA (2013-2016), he has been President of the Bruno Kessler Foundation since 2014, and since 2015, he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of INWIT (Infrastrutture Wireless Italiane SpA), a Telecom Italia group company. He chaired the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation from 2016 to 2024 and was President of Acri.
He has published over 250 papers in international scientific journals and international conference proceedings. He currently leads Isybank, Intesa Sanpaolo's digital bank, the Quadrivio Fund, the ESCP Business School Turin-Paris, and Uni-Italia. Since 2022, he has been a member of the European Innovation Council – European Commission.
