Culture and sustainable mobility once again cross paths in Cuneo, confirming how books and stories can be extraordinary tools for urban and social transformation, and how the bicycle remains the most extraordinary vehicle for bringing together people, stories, and knowledge. This time, the setting is the Cuneo Bike Festival Off, a spin-off of the city's two-wheel festival, in collaboration with scrittorincittà. On Tuesday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m., at Caffè Bruno (Via Roma, 28), author Marco Ballestracci will present his latest work, "Fare Biciclette. Storie di inventori e grandi imprese" (ADD Editore), in conversation with Davide Sacchetto, a professor at the Liceo Peano in Cuneo.

Marco Ballestracci states: "It's not just a question of making bicycles, it's also a question of books, genius, and talent. Because the motion of the bicycle (and therefore cycling) is one of the most fitting metaphors for life." Behind every bicycle, in fact, there are more than just steel tubes, chains, and gears, but above all dreams, brilliant intuitions, ascents and falls, not only of great champions but of the women and men who pedal, whatever the reason for their actions. The meeting was strongly desired as it closely touches the identity of our Granda province, which historically has positioned itself as one of Italy's centers of excellence in the bicycle manufacturing sector, a driving force for the local economy that combines manufacturing tradition, technological innovation, and a significant capacity to generate value and employment in the region.

The event aims to be an informal and stimulating opportunity for cycling enthusiasts, business professionals, and citizens curious to discover how an object as poetic as it is linear continues to shape the future of the global economy and our cities.

Marco Ballestracci is a blues musician and music journalist. He won two Bancarella Sport awards in 2009 with “A pedate. 11 eroi e 11 leggendarie partita di calcio” (Mattioli 1885) and in 2012 with “La storia balorda” (Instar Libri). Among his numerous titles, also published by Instar Libri are “L'ombra del Cannibale” (2009 republished by Mattioli in 2025), “Imerio. Romanzo di dannate fatiche” (Mulatero Editore) and “Il dio della bicicletta” (2014). In 2016 he won the CONIMemo Geremia Award with “I guardiani” (66thand2nd).
