In the middle of the Mediterranean lies a rock that served as a political exile for opponents of the fascist regime. Ventotene is about two square kilometers in size, but it played a huge role in our history, as the Manifesto was drafted there in 1941, laying the foundations for a united Europe. Gianluca Passarelli (The Rock of Ventotene, Einaudi) retraces a history of ideas, but also of women and men who dared to imagine the future during a dark moment in our past. He interviews author Bruno Giraudo.
