The exhibition, through wall posters, recounts a decade of city life from a cultural history perspective. Emerging from the gloomy twenty years of cultural homogenization and five years of war, the people of Cuneo rediscovered the desire to be together: finally free associations promoted leisure, politics, and sports, while cinemas looked to Hollywood and the America of the Allies became a comprehensive cultural hub. Dance halls transformed into dance halls, orchestras took on exotic names, beauty pageants and "Miss" pageants flourished. It was a naive society, with an uncertain future, seeking answers in magicians, mediums, and fortune tellers and entertaining itself with revues at the theater. It was not yet the economic boom, nor the consumer society, but refrigerators, washing machines, and Vespas were already objects of desire.
From November 11th to 15th, special opening for scrittorincittà • Wednesday and Thursday: 8.30am-12.30pm; 2.30pm-5.30pm; Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 4pm-7pm • Free admission
