The Risorgimento as it has never been told before. Manlio Castagna 's Di fuoco e seta (Of Fire and Silk , Mondadori) is a fresh look at distant times, telling a compelling story suspended between past and present with a cinematic pace and very short chapters: the incredible adventure of three young people and the days they spent together against the backdrop of an Italy that was just forming. Magical realism narrates the fire of battle, the silk that heals and protects, the blood that rushes through veins when love boils, and the wounds when bullets whizz through the air and collide with bodies.
