Do freight trains have windows?

Location: Provincial Meeting Center, Falco Hall
Paid ticket
price € 3

History speaks to us above all of great figures and great events. Cesare Alemanni (From Stones to the Stars: A Logistics History of Humanity, Einaudi) has instead chosen to study and tell the stories of anonymous Assyrian merchants and the "boxes" that make AI possible, of Arctic explorers and Caribbean pirates, of 19th-century railway workers and space companies; but also of how a Strait like Hormuz can transform itself into the valve of the global economy. Narrating the world means recounting how humans have moved goods, people, and ideas; because logistics is not just the movement of things: it is one of the ways in which societies, empires, and corporations shape space and time, shorten distances, and redraw geography. In conversation with the author, Elisa Lerda.
