On Wednesday, October 28th, at 6:00 p.m. at Sala San Giovanni (Via Roma 4), we'll discover the program for the 28th edition of scrittorincittà. We'll do so with Fabio Geda, in Cuneo for the presentation of his book Cencio (Einaudi).
They call him Cencio because he's always "crumpled." He's a curious thirteen-year-old, he loves the construction sites, but his destiny is in a shop, working as a hairdresser. When on November 4, 1966, the Santa Croce neighborhood is invaded by mud, he and his family must flee from the ground-floor rooms and take refuge upstairs with the neighbors. Meanwhile, his father, who had gone out to check on the shop, disappears. Nicola is twenty years old, and news of the flood reaches him in Taranto, his hometown, where the sun continues to shine. He's a reserved student, not inclined to outbursts. Yet he sets out to help Florence, like thousands of other young people from every corner of Europe. Even though he initially does it for love, to follow a girl. It will be Nicola who helps Cencio, and those days spent side by side will leave traces in them whose patterns will only emerge with time. Together, they'll discover that you can disobey your fathers without ceasing to love them, that you can be sad and happy at the same time without shame. And that sometimes you have to give up something to imagine a new world.
Fabio Geda presents Cencio (Einaudi) in dialogue with Livio Partiti.
